The Journey Begins
What started as an unplanned visit to Ashland due to a car mishap turned into a life-changing adventure for Don and Traute Moore. The couple discovered a small vineyard called Quail Run, nestled in the heart of the Rogue Valley. With no prior experience in growing grapes but a deep appreciation for the land, they purchased the property and began their journey into the world of Wineries.
The vineyard thrived under the Moores’ care. Over time, they expanded by buying or leasing additional properties across the Rogue Valley. By experimenting with diverse elevations and soil types, Don discovered that the region could grow an impressive variety of grapes from around the globe. Their efforts laid the foundation for South Stage Cellars, a winery rooted in passion and innovation.
Expanding the Vision
Over two decades, the Moores grew from managing a 15-acre vineyard to farming 350 acres of grapes. Traute played a pivotal role in marketing their harvest to Wineries in the Willamette Valley, building strong relationships with winemakers and establishing South Stage Cellars as a trusted name in the industry.
