He combined efforts with an investor to increase the accessibility of high-end and affordable charters for the private yacht charter market. When the Obsidian landed on the islands, it became a popular bareboat charter. Sadly, hurricane Maria descended on the islands in September 2017, causing much damage.
The tourism industry in the Virgin Islands was greatly affected, with businesses counting losses. The firm had to be sold off, and the Obsidian was transported back to its manufacturer in Miami. It underwent repair and upgrades and returned to the Virgin Islands in 2018, and it quickly regained its spot as the premier boat charter boat in the area.
